Foodie Adventures #atozchallenge

It’s nice to occasionally go on a foodie adventure. Doesn’t matter if it’s brunch, dinner or dessert, there is always something delicious to find. You get exposed to some amazing dishes which can vary from simple to extravagant, and you experience some amazing flavours!

One of the things I love about the city I live in is that we have such a diverse mix of various cultures. I could eat Malaysian rendang one night, Italian pasta the next, and local seafood the next. All of this is available in the suburbs and the city, with different restaurants and takeaways doing their own style.

I also enjoy exploring food when I go to another country. For example Singapore with it’s hawker centre’s, you can discover so many different & wonderful dishes from the many cultures that make up Singapore. You can end up finding dishes that you either can’t get back at home (like katong laksa) or just don’t always taste the same (like fried carrot cake), and have your senses opened up to some amazing flavours.

I’ll be honest, sometimes when I’ve gone on a foodie adventure, I’ve wanted to cook some dishes myself, as these dishes can inspire some great home cooked meals.

What’s your favourite place to go on a foodie adventure?

I run an Instagram account to document some of my foodie adventure’s. Inspired by the word Makan (eat in Malay although Oxford Dictionary lists it as ‘food’), the name is a bit of a play on words around food that makes me hungry.

  • I wish there was more variety of food near me. I’m not very adventurous, but I’m trying. It helps when there are more options available. And,. of course, you have to try new food while traveling to different countries!
